Our Story
I brought the idea of the Rural Athlete Support Network to life in the early months of 2025. Sport has shaped me into the person I am today. It has given me so many great experiences. Alongside that I have experienced the demands of travelling for sport while living in a rural community.
I grew up in Ullapool and went through the school system in Ullapool. I eventually started playing for Brora Rangers U17's Football Club at 16 but I missed out on playing for a football club before this due to being unaware of the opportunities out there for me. I heavily relied on school football to keep me going. After I left school, I went off to the USA on a football scholarship while I earned my degree. Once I finished university, I came back to work in Ullapool as an Active Schools Coordinator and continue my playing career.

Over the last 6/7 years, I have been travelling to play football in the North Caledonian League which has come with a lot of costs and time commitments. Despite this I've loved the experiences I've had in sport and this is how the birth of RASN come about. I wanted to do my best to help reduce the barriers to young people in the Ullapool ASG so they too can also experience the ups and downs of competing in sport.

The early months of 2025 have been spent setting up the group so we have solid foundations before we completely open up. We have a great group of enthusiastic community members that are keen to feed into what RASN want to do.
